I’d planned on starting a Project 365 on January 1 but I completely forgot when the time came. Then I decided to sign up for a Clickin School class (Mastering Manual) and since it didn’t start until January 28th, I decided to push my Project start date. THEN I realized, why not just wait until my birthday. So here we are.
I started Mastering Manual class a week ago and decided I’d give another hockey game a try, which is probably one of the worst ways to practice manual photography. But since I am me, I did it anyway. I ended up with 560+ pictures and culled it down to 60 something. Some I love, some not as much.
Havoc vs Ice Flyers – November 9, 2018 – Home Opener and SPHL Champion banner raising and ring ceremony! This was such a cool and emotional night. This was my first banner raising ceremony and it was amazing to see the guys recognized for their hard work last season. I decided I couldn’t let the chance to take pictures go to waste.
Some I’m happy with, some I’m not. I realized after importing all 969 pictures(!!!) into my photo editing software that I had somehow changed my camera settings and my photos didn’t get saved as RAW files, which made these hard to edit. I’m not thrilled with the blurry faces either but I am happy that I was able to capture the incredible night and get some action photography practice in! Feel free to click on photos to enlarge them. Enjoy!
Huntsville Havoc hosted a parade on Tuesday May 1, celebrating the President’s Cup win. I decided to take my camera with, even though I still haven’t invested in a zoom. I didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity. It was so great seeing how excited the guys were. They have worked so hard this season and deserved this championship.

I attended my very first NHL game this season. I’m a casual fan of San Jose Sharks so when I realized they’d be playing Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Tennessee I mentioned it to a friend and fellow hockey fan. Next thing I knew we were buying tickets (which ended up being great seats) and planning a quick trip up to Nashville. I’ve attended many events at Bridgestone Arena and love it there. I was excited to get to see some hockey in one of my favorite places to see a show! We went down to watch the Sharks warmups and I just held my point and shoot camera in front of me and kept hitting the shutter without really looking at what I was doing. I’ve been playing with camera settings to work on my action shot skills so there are some blurry faces but I was happy with how some of these came out.

I’m working on getting my photography domain/portfolio back up so if you see something wonky, that is the reason. I will be backdating posts from photos I’ve taken in the past and will be adding future ones as well. You can check out my “about me” page or follow me on social media using the links in the sidebar.
I spent my Saturday night cheering on the Huntsville Havoc, of the SPHL, to a win. I had yet to bring my camera along for a game but decided to on this time because it was Tacky Christmas night! It also swayed me because the Birmingham Bulls are our in state rival and this is their inaugural season.
I have been doing some research on camera settings for fast paced photos, like hockey. It’s been really interesting and I’m excited to learn how to get some great shots. There’s a lens I have my eye on that would help me along too since the zoom I have is a 55-250mm that came with my camera when I originally purchased it. Anywayyyy, I’m going to share some more pictures below. Feel free to click on them to enlarge. Enjoy!
